You may have heard this before:
"If you've seen one concussion, you have seen one concussion."
Every concussion is unique. Because each person is different and every brain injury is different, no two brain injuries can be treated in exactly the same way. One survivor may require lots of rest and proper nutrition while another survivor may need physical therapy and a weekly visit to a vestibular specialist.
This, of course, means that healing experiences will vary from survivor to survivor. There is no single path to recovery and because each journey is different from the next, it is important to recognize that there are many techniques used for treating concussion that may work for some, but not everyone.
Therefore, we encourage you to keep an open mind and be receptive to new treatment pathways. Do not limit yourself to one particular area of therapy or discount a form of treatment because you may not have heard of it before. A multidisciplinary approach can be the most effective means of finding excellent restorative and healing treatments. You never know- acupuncture may not have worked for us, but it may work for you! Take it upon yourself to learn as much as you can about different therapies and treatment options. Try asking for recommendations from your doctors and other survivors.

Like all Survivors, we certainly had many questions after processing the diagnosis. We wanted to learn as much as we could about the condition and how it could (or would) impact us. Most importantly, we wondered how we could begin repairing our brains. These are a few questions you may be asking yourself...

How will this impact my life? When can I go back to work? Can I still socialize? Can I afford this? What does this mean for my career? My future?
